The Research Group on Knowledge Management and Information Retrieval is an interdisciplinary research group focused on the study of social media and other sources of large-scale digital information. The group investigates how information, opinions, arguments, and behaviors emerge, interact, and evolve in complex social environments, with particular interest in understanding collective phenomena, diverse perspectives, and individual differences. Its research develops methods for extracting, organizing, and interpreting information and arguments from heterogeneous sources, analyzing causal relationships, modeling the structure and dynamics of opinions and argumentation, and generating individualized inferences. The main research areas include social media analysis, contextualized information retrieval, information extraction, argumentation and stance analysis, causal analysis, and individualized inference.
